Microfilm

We now have a new Microfilm Reader/Printer.  Thanks to generous grants
from Monsanto Fund, Union Pacific Railroad Foundation and the Idaho
Community Foundation.

We have microfilm dating back to the 1880's of all the newspapers published in Bear Lake County.  Come in and give it a try!

Bear Lake Valley Website Directory

While surfing the net, I found an excellent resource for links to Bear Lake Valley Websites.  The wonderful folks at Bear Necessities, here in Montpelier have put this together.  Thanks to June Marie Saxton and her crew for their hard work.  You can find the link here or click on Community Links in the block on the left-hand side of this page.

Bugs!

Summer Reading will be extra fun this year as it is based on bugs!  In honor of bugs, we have a new one at the library.  Be sure to come in and meet Talula the Rosehair Tarantula.  For those kids who finish the reading program and have parental permission, Talula will be up for adoption in August.  We will hold a special drawing for her.  I thought she would be icky and creepy, but she isn't so bad after you see her a couple of times.  Come in and get over your fear of spiders!

New links on our website

Two interesting links I added to our website can both be found by clicking the Community Links on the left. The first is the local gas prices. Don't waste gas driving around, check here before you go. The second link is for the News Examiner. This is a searchable database. This is a great resource with screenshots of the News Examiner from 1955-2007. Sure there is a big gap between 1960 and 2005, but I found it very interesting. Hope you do too!

Bookmark Design Contest

We are so excited to host a bookmark design contest for kids ages 3 - 14.  Using this year's summer reading program theme, "Catch the Reading Bug", kids are being asked to create a bookmark.  Entry forms will be sent home with your elementary and middle school students this week.  We also have forms available at the library.  For more information, click here or visit the library.  Hurry, entries must be returned by April 19.
