Young Adult

The Maximum Ride saga, by James Patterson

Why we like it:

This series is sweet! It grabs you and doesn't let go 'till the end. Max is a strong protaganist with a sharp intellect and sharper tongue. She and her flock are the result of genetic experiments that resulted in them having fully functional wings, along with other little quirks that are interesting (i.e., super-strength, raptor vision, flawless sense of direction)  This series keeps you guessing, with tons of mysteries and fights with Erasers along the way. I highly recommend this series to any one who enjoys a lot of action.  P.S. Never play poker with Angel.

A Day No Pigs Would Die, by Robert Newton Peck

Why we like it:

This story is told simplistically and with a quiet humor, but it has haunting undercurrents. Excellent.

Fablehaven saga, by Brandon Mull

Fablehaven Fablehaven Bk2

Why we like it:

It has some of my favorite things such as fairies, imps, demons, satyrs, ogres, nyads, and a wooden puppet.  This is a great story of magic and a new world awaiting! In the next one, there is betrayal and powerful artifacts that could overturn the world! And Grip of the Shadow Plague is the best of all! It's interesting how Kendra and Seth just keep becoming more and more opposite each other.
